The seventh vehicle of the Honourable’s convoy, which carries only his spare sunglasses, dipped into a pothole and bounced. Simba took it personally.

By noon the pothole had received a show-cause letter demanding it explain, in writing, why it should not be filled with consequences. When it failed to respond within seven days, it was suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.

A smaller, neighbouring pothole was promoted to Deputy Pothole for Loyalty, having never once jolted the convoy. It now wears a lanyard.

The road repair budget was redirected to a naming ceremony for the deputy, featuring a ribbon, a brass band and a cake shaped like the Honourable.

The original pothole has since grown. Staff describe this as “defiance.”
